I’m finishing up everything before I fly off to KL this week, business + education + shopping & a photoshoot there should be whole lotta fun. Covered this just last week at their new Arts Centre, this is currently my fav venue!

Covered for JIS recently and I got to use a new lens for this event, simply superb and very sharp. This is one of those events that equipment makes a huge difference in what I can capture. I think up to now I’ve clocked in at just more than 700 hours in capturing stage/performing arts and easily spent more than double that time in editing alone. Photography does not exist in a vacuum and thus the skills I learned here, I get to transfer to the other different assignments that fall in my lap. I’ve just been asked two days back if I could cover multiple musical performances for a local musician throughout the year, Exciting! Bring it on!

Almost mid march already

Been swamped with work and didn’t get to update the blog in a while . The last couple of days, I’d been out early in the morning to Empire Theatre and came home round 11pm, ready just for my bed . So far March has been amazing to me, a project I was involved in, for Discovery Travel and Living was broadcast just last week. It was Antony Worrall Thompson’s tour of Brunei and I was assigned to do location photography for this…also umm my first tour to Belalong lol, I sure felt like a tourist myself! A big Thank you to Rano and Zari, much much appreciated

The last few weeks, I’ve been packed with newborn/baby photography, weddings, private family portraiture, hair salon shoots, event coverage, meetings with clients etc please do excuse me if I’m a teeny weeny bit late in replying your emails. I’m off to an event in a sec and another one tonite so will be back late again….Monday’s usually my off day, I guess I’ll catch a break tomorrow and then follow up on editing/emails on Wednesday.

Just a picture from the amazing JIS Showcase 2011 I had just covered, this is the last showcase at the Empire Theatre as next year JIS will be using their new Art and Music centre for the concert. Here’s hoping I’ll be at the new centre next year..can’t wait!

Have a request for images taken few months back, currently sifting thru the lots of them; few canvases order? ;P

Talking bout stage photography, I covered a stage performance more than a month ago. There were quite a number of people around me taking pictures of their kids/siblings as well. The thing with viewing the performance thru the lens with one eye or via the LCD screen of the camera is you don’t get to appreciate the ‘full’ experience of the rich artistic performance. Next time if you go to watch a movie, try watching thru the lcd/viewfinder of the camera, you’ll see what I mean. If it was my kids up there performing after long hours of practice, the last thing I want to have is a camera with me and diminish my experience of enjoying their performance. There’s a time to whip out the camera and a time to sit back and enjoy

Got home last week on a midnite flight and been under the weather but came home with tonnes of ideas and in the midst of cleaning up and restructuring. Archiving images to hdisks atm and here’s some random ones before they disappear into a spinning disc.

Just a quick one before I pack my bag and fly off in couple of hours. This is from the finale of the dance showcase, love the costume and the feel of this final edit. Picture like this just screams to be printed as big as possible { personally I think 4R is too small to fully appreciate an image, try printing a picture you like, 8 x 12 and above, you may just like it }
