I was at DESEO on the 19th and it’s now bigger having extended by another unit. It was my first time there and am impressed with the large selection of dresses and also the number of people turning up; I would’ve thought most Bruneian shoppers had left Brunei for holidays since it was December but was glad that was unproven. I already got my eyes on some of the hats, accessories as well as dresses for future photoshoots and pre-wedding shoots.

DESEO’s currently running “SALE-bration” with discounts up to 60% ” till the end of the year, do drop by the store and support our local businesses . There are also gift vouchers of $20 and $50 for sale which make great birthday present!!!…..it’s always a daunting task for a guy when it comes to getting birthday present for ladies lol Touché. Launching of Pink Desserts Recipe Book

Will take place at Casa Esperanza tomorrow 30th May 2010 from 1 to 6. You can find some more details regarding the event here. There will be a mini bazaar where you can get hold of food/goodies etc, do come and support for a good cause. Part of the sales will be donated to Brunei Breast Cancer Support Group. You can also get hold of the Pink Desserts Recipe book for just $10! Yes 50 plus recipes for just tenner, that’s reasonably priced for shooor. I contributed some pictures for this booklet and when I received my copy last Wednesday as I was invited for a dinner at Esperanza,was honoured to have one of my pics used on the cover! Here’s hoping my work to be on more book/magazine covers ;P

Working on Lighting

One of the main challenges in what we do is seeing the light and what to do when it’s not flattering. This portrait was done in a quite dark environment, if my first instinct was to use the on camera flash, this picture would not have come to light. Processed with my signature black & white action with very slight toning. For the still photo, I was practicing what could be done with just 1 light.

Every photog has their own concoctions of B&W,some are more contrasty, others more ‘fluffy’. I love this B&W as it’s ‘clean’ and ‘crisp’, for this picture I think it works, will look great for wedding images too.
