Recently Deseo Boutique & Home Decor ran a Talent search competition and Maira came up on top. I did a photoshoot of her with clothing and accessories from Deseo, make up was done by Andre, hairstyling by Moore’s and one of the locations we used was Samo furniture, thank you!!! Thank you for your comment from an anonymous fan to my new email address, that means a lot , there’s still so much to learn.

Sometimes I wish I had more time in a day, there’s so much I wanna do and try out. Lately I’ve been doing some commercial stuff and fashion & portraiture shoots. they were a lot of fun but takes up quite a bit of time especially in the processing part for the later shoots. I have a few weddings left to cover for this year and I will not be taking anymore wedding assignments until at least June 2012, taking a 6 months break from wedding coverage(there’s just so much to explore still). Been getting quite a few inquiries for 2012 already, I apologise having to turn them all down, just made this decision. I want more time for maternity & family shoot, fashion/personal/executive portraiture as well prewedding or postwedding shoot while still having some ‘me time’ leftover just for myself and people around me. Drop me a message if any of the above tickles your fancy

My recent fashion shoot September 2011 Part II

Same shoot as the previous post, the girls left Brunei the day after so pretty lucky they were willing to spend some of their remaining time to model for me. Before someone says the pictures are nice cos I worked with real models, I’ve never worked with a real model so honestly I have no idea what it’s like; well hopefully one fine day …soon

The shoot was done at Deseo Boutique @ Regent Square; the styling was done by Denise using the new collections of dresses, blazers, earrings, accessories and decors available there. I know that Bruneians are not really into asking questions and ask for suggestions (ever been at the end of a seminar and no one asks questions during the question/answer session lol), feel free to ask Denise or the staff for suggestions on dresses and accessories that would suit you.

For this shoot, timing was a bit tricky for me but I think we did quite well. I used different lighting techniques for this session and hence a different look & feel to them. Now the next step is integrating these into prewedding sessions with my clients. More pictures from the session.

Just did these couple of days ago with the assistance from Denise of Deseo Boutique & Home Decor who helped with the styling, dresses and accessories. The dresses and accessories are from their new collections which just got in. Do pop by and check them out @ Regent Square . These girls were simply amazing and they completely rocked the session.

I’ve posted these pictures in my facebook and the bluish green earrings seem to gather quite an interest, won’t be surprised if they’re already sold coz they do look great. CHARITY SHOPPING at DESEO

Till the 3rd April. Shop for a good cause. This is one of the shops I always recommend to my friends and people I work with, do drop in to view their latest collection. I know that people sometimes feel pressured to buy something or even anything when they go into a shop, Deseo is one of those pressure free boutiques, feel free to browse/try on/buy it if you love how it looks and feels on you. Two days back, I did a shoot @ Deseo and you can see some of the pictures with Deseo’s clothing and accessories right here. I’m going to get my clients to check them out when they’re looking for dresses/accessories for pre-wedding as well as personal shoots.

Did this couple of weeks ago but haven’t got round to it as I was spending most of my time out in the field; didn’t get to sit in front computer and do the editing. The theme for this was office wear and this is just one of the snapshots I took while warming up. Will post a few more when I’m done with them, in the meanwhile I got few photoalbums to design .

Feb so far

These pictures are from a small set that I’ve taken the past week when baby Tasha of Idris and Zari was just almost 2 weeks old. As always I wanted to capture images that could stand on its own and be cherished years from now. I’ll also be taking pictures of the baby pretty soon with her extensive family and friends of family; these pictures I have no doubt are/will be priceless. She’ll be able to look back and see who was around her when she was just a baby as well as stories that the parents can tell about each special individual that appears in her life. I have mentioned this before, I wish I had those pictures of myself as those would be very precious; I’m honored to be able to do this for her and her family.

I’m only comfortable with showing some from the nite, better some than none right ;P. I’m currently wrapping up my edit of pictures taken for a recent engagement event and had just finished with pictures taken for a maternity portraiture. Just so I still have a life left, I always allow myself a two week period to complete my editing; it’s either that or I’ll be overwhelmed with meetings, researching or out there shooting and working till the late morning (then I have to charge my client double for overtime haha). And depending on the kind of shoot, an hour of photography may take more than 5 hrs of my time editing.

I did my first maternity shoot a week ago, since this was my first I spent a tremendous amount of time doing my homework {yes we have to do our homework too } and I also went to do a lengthy consultation to find out what kind of pictures they have in mind AND especially what they DO NOT like…let’s just say that I’m glad I did just that. One of the worst things to happen is a mismatched of expectations for clients. No two photographers are the same; we all have different styles; we’re inspired by different things/people; we don’t read the same books; watch the same tv; grow up in the same environment etc and hence there’s very little chance we’ll come out with the same images even in the same exact spot. The pictures from this shoot, I printed some from my ’10 -ink’ printer onto fine art photo paper, the black and white are just astounding…CK and A&F black and white ads came to mind! Never seen anything like that. The images from this shoot are hands down some of the very best I’ve ever taken in this 2 years plus. A very satisfying session! Now looking forward to the baby shoot hopefully next week and I’ve got few props flown in, express, should be here right on time.

A recent portrait shoot

This was done just before my trip in October. From when I started, one of the things I want to be great at, is the ability to ‘work it’ almost anywhere. I’m just not that person to get locked down in a studio so able to work with what I’m given is paramount; I love working out there,meeting all people, working at people’s home, work places, even on board a plane ;P. I figure it’s the freshness of the environment and in some way the chaos that refuel my creative juices lol.
